Miss Gambii's Home for Films and Series • Blogmas - Days 19 - 23

You know how you're supposed to post every day for Blogmas? Yeah, that didn't happen... this is why I didn't want to get myself in this mess to begin with, but here we are! I'm not the kind of person who can drag herself to her computer every day to make a post just because there's a challenge waiting for me, mostly because I never know what to post about.
These past few days, I literally didn't post for the sole reason that I didn't know what to write about, and ended up spending all that time binge-watching a couple series.

I started by finishing South Park: I watched the last two and a half seasons in about two days, which was awesome because they were pretty recent, so finally I could understand all the references.

I've loved this series ever since I started watching it at the beginning of this year, thanks to my friend Puri-puri. It's a stop-motion cartoon about four 4th graders who tend to set their world on fire for the lulz. It's basically a funny satire of what our world is, and they have the kind of humor I have, so I couldn't help but fall in love with the series. My favourite character is and will always be Kenny, he's super funny, if you understand what the hell he's saying, he's badass, and he is the best brother you'll see in there (and Kyle is a pretty good brother too).

Once I finished watching South Park, I spent maybe one hour trying to figure out what to do with my life, until I realized I had HBO's Westworld to watch, so I did; and I finished watching the season within 24 hours. I can't quite remember how I got to know about this show, but I remember that my reaction was "you had me at Anthony Hopkins".

My favourite character is actually one of the hosts: Maeve, and if I were to tell you why, I'd spoil it for you, and I'm really trying not to do that. She's a madame and her girls, like her, are there to satisfy their guests' needs. As for the guests, my love for Logan grew while my appreciation for William decreased, which made me love the series even more.
The more I watched, the more I realized I hadn't understood half of what I thought I had, and by the end, when all the plot twists hit me like a train, I decided I would have to watch the whole thing again so I could fully understand it (which I will, eventually). I was never really into western cowboy stuff, but this one is hella awesome, and I will definitely recommend it to everyone I know.

Once I was done with Westworld, I didn't know what to do with myself again, so I went for movies. My best friend told me about Barely Lethal, how a bunch of cool people were there, like Hailee Steinfeld, Jessica Alba, Sophie Turner, Samuel L. Jackson and so on... I didn't pay much attention after SLJ because he convinced me right there.

I had a great time watching this one. The best teen movies are definitely the ones where the main character can kill you in 24601 different ways if she wants. Also, I kinda missed seeing Jessica Alba around, so that was cool. Bonus for having Sansa being badass af!

However, a movie can never entertain me for as long as a series can, so soon enough I was back to having nothing to watch (says the person who has like 483 movies sitting right there waiting for me to watch them). The good news were that, by then, Peter had already told me about this new series called The OA, so I downloaded it while watching another movie: Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children.

They gave me Tim Burton, Eva Green and Samuel L. Jackson! The rest of the cast could be Justin Bieber for all I care.
I knew I was in for a good movie from the start, and that's what I got. It's not the best movie of the year (helloo, Deadpool came out last February), but it's a great way to spend some time nonetheless. It's entertaining and you can feel the Tim Burton magic all over the place. I can't even pick a favourite character because all the peculiars are seriously bae, including Samuel L. Jackson's Barren.

Finally, The OA finished downloading and I started watching it. I just made it to the second episode, so I'll wait for the end to talk about it, because I like to know what I'm talking about when I do. Those two episodes make it look quite promising and I really want to find the time to watch the rest of it.

Have you watched any of these? What did you think? What series/movies would you recommend? Let me know down below in the comments section ☺

Peace *
